Introductory overview of music technology. Study of acoustic physics, history of music technology, basic hardware set up, computerized music notation, Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) electronic music production, and music video creation. Prerequisite: MU 1310 or Instructor permission.

Section Description
This course provides music students with an introduction to modern music technology. Topics include basic audio physics, history of music technology, computer hardware and software, electronic keyboards and MIDI, music notation, recording equipment and techniques, composition techniques, and video creation. Using Logic, students will create a number of music pieces throughout the semester. All students must fill out this form to be considered for instructor permission. Section Expectation
After the competition of this course, students will have a greater understanding of music technology. This includes recording and editing audio, MIDI manipulation, electronic notation, mixing, integration of audio/video, and program specific skills for Logic and Sibelius.
