About CDAE 3500 A

Methods used in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. Critical review of literature, and data collection, analysis, and interpretation for descriptive, inferential, and evaluation research. Prerequisites: One of the following: STAT 1410, STAT 1110, or equivalent course. Must register for CDAE 3500 lab.

Section Description

Course Overview and Objectives This course introduces you to qualitative and quantitative research methods, as well as statistical procedures that are used regularly by social scientists and practitioners. It will examine different stages of research process, including design, sampling, data analysis, and final reporting. It will also introduce you to one of the most commonly used statistical tools – SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). At the end of this semester, you will be expected: 1. to develop necessary methodological and analytical abilities to evaluate and critique research arguments involving both qualitative and quantitative information; 2. to be equipped with skills and techniques needed for successfully completing your own capstone senior project and lifelong research needs 3. to apply class concepts to conduct research to benefit a community partner in a Civic-Learning format

Format: The course will utilize a series of video lectures, assessments, discussions and exercises. We will be utilizing Brightspace and MS Teams
