Section Description
Design is essential to creating innovative, useful, and effective solutions to meet complex real-world needs. Design Innovation I offers an introduction to design theories and processes, understanding historic and contemporary contributions, and exploring applications across various fields of practice. This course is for students interested in community-led design and how to apply these concepts in their academic and professional work. This is not a graphic design course.
Section Expectation
This course combines lecture, discussion and out-of-class activity formats (such as visiting community spaces and museums) Students should expect to spend 3-4 hours a week on coursework outside of class, with additional time for preparing for quizzes.
Evaluation
Participation in discussion and in-class activities, quizzes and design-related assignments.
