Art Studio: Printmaking: Silkscreen

Studio class focusing on procedures in stencil printing that use photo-silkscreen technology. Prerequisites: ARTS 1010, ARTS 1011, ARTS 1014, ARTS 1100, or ARTS 1400.

Prereqs enforced by the system: ARTS 1010 or ARTS 1011 or ARTS 1014 or 1100 or 1400; SART, ARTH, ARTE majors only during the first week of registration; CAS SART, ARTH minors only for the following 3 days; Non-CAS minors for the following 2 days; then all restrictions will be removed; Minimum sophomore standing; Fee: $300 PACE students by permission and override

This is a studio art class focusing on learning and applying procedures of art making using photo-silkscreen technology. Studetns will learn, practice and apply methods of production to their work made as silkscreens.-- a primary method of making art in multiple. The multiple will be investigated and its own particular place in contemporary art will be addressed. We will consider what distinguishes silkscreen and the advantages this printmaking method offers for your work.

Class meets 2 X a week. Attendance during class plus outside studio time is required to complete semester's work. This is a demanding class which requires that you try, practice what apply what is learned directly to your work.

Student's work will be evaluated on result, effort and ability to practice. Steady accomplishment throughout the semester is essential- as is content and execution. Your abililty to solve problems as they arise are required, also the student's ability to learn and apply proofing and the printing process is necessary to demonstrate image development to make strong prints.
