Intensive investigation of drawing and elements related to the discipline. Focus on expanding techniques and developing strategies for making drawings. Prerequisites: ARTS 1010, ARTS 1011, ARTS 1014, ARTS 1100, or ARTS 1400.

Prereqs enforced by the system: ARTS 1010 or ARTS 1011 or ARTS 1014 or 1100 or 1400; SART, ARTH, ARTE majors only during the first week of registration; CAS SART, ARTH minors only for the following 3 days; Non-CAS minors for the following 2 days; then all restrictions will be removed; Minimum sophomore standing; Fee $105 PACE students by permission and override
Section Description
In this course, students will focus on figure drawing, developing a deeper understanding of human anatomy and learning how to depict the human form both realistically and expressively. Building upon techniques from Drawing I, students will refine their skills in gesture, angles, proportion, sighting, cross-contour, and value and apply them to figure drawing. -fundamental drawing techniques -human anatomy -life drawing -Abstract figure drawing -Narrative drawing
Section Expectation
In-class and out-of-class studio work, group critiques, gallery visits, and submission to art shows will be integral components of the course.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated on In-class and out-of-class studio work, artist statement, work presentation, group critique participation and art show submissions.
