Section Description
We will watch both classical and contemporary musicals, including Singin' in the Rain, White Christmas, Cabaret, Purple Rain, Rent, and Pitch Perfect. While watching these great films, we will read about theories of social conflict and political upheaval in order to think about the films in these terms. We will consider how the musical intervenes in questions of the direction of society and the breakdown of mores within the social order.
