Section Description
This course emphasizes the importance of the effective delivery of pharmaceutical agents to achieve therapeutic outcomes. Students will learn current trends in the design of drug delivery systems to release therapeutic agents in a controllable and targeted manner. This course focuses on the physiochemical properties important in controlled release technologies, carrier-based approaches for delivery, disease-based targeting, characterization techniques, toxicology, and regulatory issues.
Section Expectation
Students are expected to read course materials, ask questions during class, participate in in-class activities such as projects as well as complete the class homework assignments. A 3-credit course requires 3 hours of in-class work plus 6-9 hours outside of class each week.
Evaluation
Learning will be assessed on homework assignments, exams, a project, and participation.
