About PSYS 3300 A

In-depth discussion of select topics centering on how situations influence individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Prerequisites: PSYS 2000 or PSYS 2002; PSYS 2300.

Prereqs: (PSYS 2000 or PSYS 2002) and PSYS 2300 Junior and Senior standing only PSYS majors and minors only PACE students by permission and override.

Section Description

This is an advanced-level, reading- and writing-intensive seminar in social psychology. It is expected that students taking this course have successfully completed both Social Psychology (PSYS 2300) and at least one introductory course in psychological research methods (e.g., PSYS 2000, PSYS 2002).

Section Expectation

This is an upper-level seminar course. We will read and discuss 3-4 primary source (journal) articles and/or book chapters per week, and students will take turns co-leading class discussion of the readings. Attendance and participation in class meetings is a component of class participation.

Evaluation

Writing assignments, including weekly reflections and a research proposal due at the end of the semester; co-leading of class discussion on weekly readings; solo research proposal presentation; weekly Brightspace quizzes; class participation.
