About CHEM 2020 A
Seminar focusing on information literacy, writing, and presentation skills relevant to the chemical sciences. Students will use discipline-specific search tools and evaluate primary literature to complete written and oral assignments. Prerequisite: CHEM 1550 or CHEM 2585.

Section Description
This course is aimed at helping students develop key communication skills for success in the chemical sciences. These skills include the reading of chemical literature, writing on chemical topics, discussion of results, and presentation of data. Students can use this course to satisfy WIL2 and/or OC Catamount Core requirements.
Section Expectation
Students will complete several short essays on topics related to the literature, assemble a range of sources to produce a topical paper in several drafts, and students will give several shorter and one significant presentation on their readings and analysis in class.
Evaluation
Course grades will be calculated from the various assignments (shorter pieces, drafts of paper, full paper, shorter presentations, full presentation) as well as engagement in classroom discussion.
