About PSYS 2000 A

Principles of research methodology, including design and reporting. Prepares students to understand and evaluate psychological research in a variety of areas of psychology. Includes laboratory component. Credit not awarded for both PSYS 2000 and PSYS 2002. Prerequisite: PSYS 1400.

Section Description

Discussion of the scientific method as it applies to the study of human behavior, including but not limited to the philosophy of science, ethics in research, observational studies, single-subject designs, correlational studies, experimental designs, reliability and validity, and communication of research results.

Section Expectation

Consistent attendance at lecture and lab; timely completion of assignments; clear and timely communication around any circumstances that may affect coursework.

Evaluation

A mix of quizzes, short online/Brightspace assignments, exams, and papers which are scaffolded in part during the lab sections.
