Section Description
Publication design refers to the process of creating and designing layouts for publications like newspapers, booklets, catalogs, magazines, books, and online equivalents. These are design strategies used for presenting content that is of an editorial nature and produced in either printed or electronic formats. For example, one may both print a physical copy of a magazine and also publish it on a web site. Similarly one may produce a physical book and distribute digital copies as an e-pub. The goal is to make content logically organized, attractive, visually expressive and informative, as well as easy to read. Effective editorial design is cohesive and resonant. This area of communication design is about the thoughtful process of integrating text and imagery - to visually present engaging content in a range of multipage formats. Well-designed publications utilize well-written text, thoughtful photography and illustration, effective compositional and typographic strategy, and a visual style that relates to the content type, publication purpose and target audience.
