Section Description

ABIO 6010 is a scientific journal club at the graduate level and is a required course for ABIO graduate students. The primary goal of this course is to learn how to read and critique research papers. The secondary goal of this course is to be exposed to the newest and most exciting research in a diverse set of topics related to animal science. The course promotes scientific rigor and strong interactions between the students. The format of this course is student-selected and student-led presentations of current literature. The learning objectives are to learn to critically read, interpret, and discuss current scientific literature in an effective manner, in terms of scientific method and merit, in a seminar setting. Overall, students will improve their critical appraisal skills. An additional purpose of this course is to practice presentation/communication skills and encourage critical thinking and discussions.
