Section Description
HDF 2610 is a continuation of HDF 1600, which must be completed before entering HDF 2610. In HDF 2610, we apply develecological principles to the major social institutions that affect individuals and families in the U. S. We consider poverty and discrimination, neighborhoods and communities, schools, health care, public safety and justice, youth serving and other social service agencies. Students examine social policy issues that hinder and support appropriate practices.
Section Expectation
Class sessions are mostly lecture-based, however there are opportunities for in-class activities and discussion. Students are expected to spend about 6-8 hours a week on coursework outside of class. Students are also expected to read and understand reading material, attend each class period, and actively and critically engage with the material. Regular office hours with the instructor are made available. Brightspace will be used for course management.
Evaluation
Grades are based on course engagement and participation, written reflection assignments, reflective papers, and other written work.
