Directed research, planning, design, technical experimentation, production, and evaluation for computer-generated design application. Prerequisite: CDAE 1150 or Instructor permission.

Section Description
An upper-level graphic design course where students create an effective brand identity and product design from start to finish. This is done through design research, process, prototyping and production in hand-based and computer-generated design application. This course has a strong focus on consumer research, marketing and sustainable packaging design. Experience using the Adobe Suite is highly recommended.
Section Expectation
This course is a studio-based class - including short lectures, design demos and discussion. Required materials for this course are a subscription to the Adobe Suite and access to printers on campus. Highly recommended prerequisites: CDAE 1160, CDAE 1170 or functional knowledge using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop - please reach out to the instructor.
Evaluation
Grades are based on attendance, hands-on exercises in various Adobe applications, participation in design critiques, and four projects including logo design, brand identity, product development and prototyping.
