About JAPN 1100 D
Introduction to spoken and written Japanese through aural-oral drills and grammar presentation. The three writing systems of Japanese (hiragana, katakana, and kanji) are introduced. No prior knowledge expected.

Section Description
This course is designed for students with no Japanese knowledge, and focuses on four basic skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) to communicate in Japanese in basic everyday situations. This course is a four-credit course which consists of in-person classes and a scheduled Bright Space learning day. You will need a textbook and workbook for this course. The textbook: Genki Textbook Volume 1, 3rd edition Workbook: Genki Workbook Volume 1, 3rd edition ENROLLMENT: If the course is full, please contact the instructor. The instructor will put you on a wait list or possibly give you an override.
Section Expectation
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, students have in-person classes. On Thursday, students have asynchronous learning via Brightspace.
Evaluation
Grades are based on attendance/participation, homework, quizzes, and exams.
