About RADT 2850 A
Introduction to the clinical environment through activities which include patient care issues, treatment unit operations and manipulations and direct patient case. Includes a clinical practicum. Pre-requisite: RADT 2520.

Prereq: RADT 2520; MRS and RADT majors ONLY; Radiation Safety Badge Fee: $28; Liability Insurance Fee: $22. Class will be held in Rowell 104 PACE students by permission and override.
Section Description
This three-credit hour course is designed to prepare students to achieve the necessary basic technical and professional skills to integrate them into a clinical setting. The course will allow hands-on experience and classroom learning. This is a competency-based course. Additional clinic times (4-6 hours) are required and will be scheduled with the instructor. Goals: 1. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the role of caregivers in the radiation therapy environment. 2. Students will describe the student's role in caring for radiation therapy patients. 3. Students will demonstrate a basic professional skill set to provide patient care. Course Objectives: 1. The student will pass all required components. 2. Students will practice treatment delivery in VERT simulation and the clinical environment. 3. Students will observe and define the radiation therapy staff's responsibilities.
