Section Description

Overview
In this course, students will apply common marketing concepts techniques to entrepreneurial ventures. Emphasis will be community enterprises, ventures (businesses and other organizations) which contribute to community development, sustainability and well-being. Students will apply marketing techniques and concepts to existing local businesses as well as creating a marketing plan for a venture of their choosing.
This is a Sustainability course; you will learn how concepts of sustainability influence how you create and market a business opportunity
We will be using MS Teams and Brightspace.

Objectives.
1. Students will be able to identify and give examples of marketing concepts and techniques
2. Students will appropriately apply marketing concepts and techniques to a variety of cases and situations
3. Students will design a marketing plan for a venture of their choice which
a. Employs marketing concepts and techniques
b. Will (or could realistically) be used
c. Would advance the mission of the venture

Format: Video lectures, guest speakers, discussions, problem solving, exams, homework assignments, assessments and final project (marketing plan)

Grading
Class participation: 5%
Homework and in class assignments: 40 %
Exams: 35% (one midterm 15%, one final, 20%)
Marketing plan: 20%
