About ARTS 1100 OL2
Introductory study of visual experience through drawing and its transformation of the three-dimensional visual world onto a two-dimensional surface. Emphasis varies with Instructor. Credit not awarded for both ARTS 1100 and ARTS 1011.

Section Description
Drawing has always been a fundamental part of art making. Contemporary drawing practices have gained credibility as an established method of creating finished artworks. Drawing 001 is an introduction to the methods, materials, and concepts involved in drawing, and to artists who work with drawing as an essential means of creating art . Students will be asked to work from observation and from research. Students do not need prior drawing experience to participate in this class. Students will be asked to look at the historical use of drawing in the arts and will be introduced to contemporary artists who use drawings as a fundamental focus of art making. There is no lab fee for this course; a list of supplies that can be ordered online will be sent to students before the class begins.
Section Expectation
This class will be taught asynchronously. Students will be expected to create finished projects, document, and present them on PowerPoints that will be available for the class to view so that students can how their peer’s approach and resolve the projects offered within the class. Students should be interested in learning various processes that can create drawings and engaged in creating finished drawing projects. Students will develop and understanding of how historical and contemporary artists approach drawing. Part of the course structure will include in progress critiques and response and evaluation on finished projects.
Evaluation
Evaluation: Completion, documentation and presentation of assigned projects.
