Section Description

This course presents an overview of the environmental, social and economic dimensions of coffee production, commercialization and consumption. Specifically, students will learn: 1) How coffee is produced and the challenges and opportunities that affect the livelihoods of coffee producers, with an emphasis on smallholder farmers; 2) The different components, actors and power dynamics of the coffee value chain; and 3) The environmental challenges and opportunities that are part of the coffee value chain.
