Section Description

The winter session will feature a fully online, asynchronous ASL Level 1100 course over three weeks. Beginners will be introduced to the basics of American Sign Language and Deaf culture through engaging online activities.

Essential vocabulary, basic grammar, and signing techniques, including fingerspelling and common phrases, will be covered. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and connect with the Deaf community!

Section Expectation

Students are encouraged to actively engage with course materials and complete assignments on time for success. Practicing signing techniques and vocabulary outside of class will help build confidence. Open communication with the instructor and peers enhances discussions and understanding. A respectful attitude toward Deaf culture and diverse perspectives will create a positive learning environment. Students should approach the course with enthusiasm and a commitment to making the most of their language learning experience!

Evaluation

Grades are based on participation, e-worksheets, ASL conversations, expressive assignments, lab activities, and quizzes.
