About HLTH 3859 ZRA
Students will learn about Integrative Healthcare, Health & Wellness Coaching, and what makes Wellness Coaching so effective. Techniques such as active listening, reflections, open-ended questions, affirmations, and summarizing, used to empower and guide clients in sustainable behavioral change will be covered as well as health coaching structure. This course is part of the required curriculum to prepare students to be eligible to sit for the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching Certification Exam. Prerequisite: Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching minor.

Section Description
In this course, students will learn about Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching, and what makes Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching so effective. Students will learn the health coaching structure, basic health and wellness information on health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management using a whole person perspective. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to facilitate and empower clients in the process of creating healthy sustainable behavioral change. This course is part of the required curriculum to prepare students to be eligible to sit for the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching Certification Exam Immersion Retreat Day is required on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in-person on-campus at Osher Center All other Monday classes are in-person on-campus at Osher Center Undergraduate students register for Section A PACE students register for Section ZRA
Section Expectation
Class work involves online modules of videos, readings, discussion board posts and assignments. Students will be watching weekly demonstration videos and then meeting in class/lab to practice their health coaching skills.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated through the competencies, practical exams, written exam, project, and class engagement. • 15% - Hybrid Assessments/Quizzes • 20% - Lab Competencies • 20% - Written Exam Final (formatted to National Board Exam Standards) • 20% - Practical Exam Final (video recording review mentor session) • 10% - Health and Wellness Project • 5% - Journal • 10% - Discussion board
