Section Description
This course provides an overview of the history of cinema from 1960 to 2000. We will read about and discuss the aesthetic, theoretical, technological, social, and economic considerations surrounding this cinema. This course brings together films from different geographical regions from Italy and Germany to Japan and Korea. The objective of the course is to provide an understanding of recent cinema as well as to develop skills in film analysis.
Section Expectation
Each week, students will watch 1 or 2 films and write one screening notes (250 words min). Also, they will read two essays and write a reading response (250 words min). Occasionally, there will be quizzes throughout the semester.
Evaluation
Grade breakdown: Quizzes 20% Screening Notes 20% Three Exams 60% (20% each)
