About BCOR 2300 ZRA
The basis of inheritance, covering topics from classical genetics to modern molecular studies. Analysis of genetic data emphasized, from prokaryotic, animal, and plant systems. Credit not awarded for both BCOR 2300 and ASCI 2160. Prerequisites: BCOR 1400 or BIOL 1400, and BCOR 1450 or BIOL 1450; or BCOR 1425; CHEM 1400, CHEM 1405, or CHEM 1410.

Section Description
The goals of this course are to develop a deep understanding of the major concepts in genetics, learn how to apply these concepts to solve problems, and to develop a capacity to think critically about real-world issues related to genetics. The course covers topics from classical genetics to modern molecular studies. Analysis of genetic data is emphasized, from prokaryotic, animal, and plant systems. May not be taken for credit concurrently with, or following receipt of, credit for ASCI 2160.
Section Expectation
This course combines lectures in a large-capacity lecture hall, and weekly discussion sections involving group and individual work. Students should expect to spend 2-4 hours per week on coursework outside of class, with additional time for exam preparation.
Evaluation
Four exams, weekly homework, a repeating YellowDig discussion, and recitation section assignments, as well as in-class iClicker activities.
