Section Description

The Third Year College Chinese I (CHIN 3100) aims to help students to accomplish the following goals through text contents about different aspects of China: 1. To contextualize grammar patterns to express ideas. 2. To ask and answer questions sequentially about stories in the texts. 3. To narrate stories. 4. To learn about Chinese culture through the texts. Textbook: Essential College Chinese Book 3 by John Jinghua Yin and Diana Yiqing Sun Textbook course-packet will be available to you from Sun Laoshi with students covering the printing fee.

Section Expectation

Meet twice a week in class with each lasting 75 minutes. Four class sessions will be spent on each chapter. Preview the text to be learned before class, interact with the instructor and classmates in class, do homework after class, and complete and submit homework assignments on time.

Evaluation

Grades are based on attendance, homework, written and speaking tests and a final exam.
