About SPAN 2100 A

Significant review of grammar, moving toward increased proficiency in composition, listening comprehension, pronunciation, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis on cultural context. Compositions, oral practice, reading. Students may take 1 Spanish course numbered between 2100 and 2109 for credit. Cannot be taken for credit after SPAN 2200. Prerequisites: SPAN 1200 or equivalent.

Section Description

Significant review of grammar, moving toward increased proficiency in composition, listening comprehension, pronunciation, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis on cultural context. Compositions, oral practice, reading. Students may take 1 Spanish course numbered between 2100 and 2109 for credit. Cannot be taken for credit after SPAN 2200. Prerequisites: SPAN 1200 or equivalent. Catamount Core: GC2. This is a Service-Learning course with a partnership with Addison Central School District and Champlain Valley School District, where students learning Spanish at UVM can create a video for K-12 kids, based on Indigenous and Afro Hispanic tales. Hispanic Tales project will offer a VIRTUAL LIBRARY to School Boards teaching Spanish for Kids in Vermont.

Section Expectation

Student must create a final project for Hispanic tales (Service-Learning), which will be part of a virtual and open library to School Boards in Vermont teaching Spanish. Students will be assigned three journals and a final portfolio project including the final video.

Evaluation

40% Service-Learning Hispanic tales’ project. 3 journals and 1 final portfolio video project. 10% First test 10% Second test 10% Final exam 10% Speaking assessment 1 10% Speaking assessment 2 5% Online homework 5% Participation and attendance
