Introduction of American Sign Language with emphasis on visual receptive and expressive use including facial expressions and gestures. Elements of the Deaf Culture are explored.

Course meets Online - Asynchronous

Section Description

This course is to help you build your basic ASL skills.

Section Expectation

This course is 100% asynchronous which means you do not meet at a certain day/time. Your instructor will actively engage on a daily basis for check-ins, communication, and feedback.

Evaluation

There are four types of assignment: Receptive Exercises- You will watch videos and then answer questions in English. Expressive Exercises - You will make videos showing your language work. Short quizzes - All quizzes are short assessing your understanding of Deaf culture and ASL grammar. Unit Tests - There will be three unit tests in total.
