Section Description

This is a process-based writing class that requires much participation on the part of the students: there are weekly papers, grammar workshops, writing workshops, free writes, and a portfolio approach to grading. Students must be willing to experiment with their writing and their ideas about writing, which means students must also be willing to "talk" about their writing.

Section Expectation

Since this course places so much emphasis on process-based writing, which includes multiple drafts and workshop, "attendance" is mandatory. If you miss a workshop, you will miss out on the chance of feedback for your next paper; moreover, if you "come to class" without a draft, not only will you miss out on the chance for feedback, but you will also be marked down by one half grade for that draft.

Evaluation

Writing component and workshop component.
