About ME 1120 OL1
Kinematics and kinetics of particles and rigid bodies in two and three dimensions. Computer-aided analysis. Prerequisite: CEE 1100, MATH 2248.
Notes
Asynchronous online; Prerequisite: CEE 1100, MATH 2248
Section Description
This course covers the Newtonian dynamics (kinematics and kinetics) of particles and rigid bodies, including Newton’s 2nd Law, impulse-momentum, and energy concepts.
Section Expectation
At the end of this course, students should be able to: 1) Analyze the kinematics (motion) of particles in two and three dimensions; this includes linear motion, projectile motion, and motion in multiple coordinate systems (Cartesian, normal-tangential, cylindrical, etc.). 2) Evaluate the kinetics (motion AND its causes) of particles in two and three dimensions; this includes force balances (Newton‘s Second Law), energy methods, and momentum. 3) Apply knowledge of kinematics to rigid bodies in two and three dimensions. 4) Apply knowledge of kinetics to rigid bodies in two and three dimensions. 5) Solve complex engineering problems by applying their knowledge of these fundamental principles.
