Notes
Prereqs enforced by the system: STAT 2830 or STAT 183 with a grade of C or better; or STAT 1410 and instructor permission; Open to Degree and PACE students
Section Description
This may be a partially flipped class, where you will be responsible for reading & viewing the text & pre-class videos before working on the material in class. Class time will consist of a mixture of lecture, discussion, and group work to highlight particular topics. It would be impossible, however, for these to encompass all of the material for the course. There will be material in the text for which you will be responsible that we will not cover explicitly in class. I expect that you will read the material in the text before we discuss it in class. _____ Key topics: Simple Linear Regression; the correlation coefficient and regression analysis; the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) table; Multiple Regression (general considerations); testing hypothesis in Multiple Regression; Correlations: multiple, partial, and multiple partial; confounding and interaction; regression diagnostics; one-way ANOVA; two-way ANOVA
Section Expectation
Students should come into each class period ready to discuss the material and to actively engage in the class. Students should expect to spend three or more hours of work outside of class for every hour of class time. Homework assignments will be listed on Brightspace and announced in class.
Evaluation
Final grades will be determined by exams, quizzes, homework, and participation in class discussions.
