Introductory overview of music technology. Study of acoustic physics, history of music technology, basic hardware set up, computerized music notation, Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) electronic music production, and music video creation. Prerequisite: MU 1310 or Instructor permission.

Topics include basic audio physics, history of music technology, computer hardware and software, electronic keyboards and MIDI, music notation, recording equipment and techniques, composition techniques, and video creation. Using Logic, Sibelius and Audacity as our main programs, students will create a number of songs throughout the semester emphasizing the topics above.
Section Expectation
This course combines lecture and discussion formats, and is project-based. Each topic covered is accompanied by an individual project that is utilizing the skills learned in class.
Evaluation
Grades are based on attendance and participation, discussions and readings, and completion of musical projects.
