Section Description
Biopsychology (behavioral neuroscience) is the study of the biological basis of behavior. In this course we will examine many of the important issues in this field, including the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, the effects of drugs, biological theories of behavioral disorders, and the biological basis of stress, emotion, learning and memory. Our primary goal is to provide you with a knowledge foundation that will allow you to think critically about topics and research in the field of behavioral neuroscience.
Section Expectation
We have three major goals: 1. Factual knowledge and scientific vocabulary: We will test your knowledge of scientific vocabulary, structures and their function on multiple choice exams. 2. Conceptual understanding: Some of our multiple choice questions will also test your understanding of a concept. For example, you may be introduced to a brain process at some point in the course, and asked to identify examples of this process based on what you have learned up to that point 3. Solving problems: We will also require you to use the information that you have learned in a new or different way to show that you can solve problems. For example, we may give you hypothetical scientific questions on a multiple choice exam, and ask you to determine the best way to answer those questions given the tools we discuss.
