Shamila’s primary focus is on teaching and although she is not currently involved in research, Shamila’s principal interest is in identifying factors that contribute to psychological, behavioral, and social wellbeing of students and student veterans. Shamila’s previous research focused on: 1) identifying predictors of maternal and paternal sensitivity with an emphasis on parents’ emotional responses to infant cues; 2) examining the intergenerational transmission of fathers’ parenting practices with an emphasis on identifying factors that contribute to discontinuity; 3) reintegration for fathers in the national guard and reserves with a focus on mental health and parenting.
