Section Description

**Catamount Core Designation:** Global Citizenship — Developing Global Citizens (GC2).
Communication shapes how we build relationships, share ideas, influence decisions, and create change. Whether you're navigating a difficult conversation, presenting an idea, working on a team, or speaking up about something that matters to you, communication is a skill you'll use throughout your life.
In this course, you'll explore how communication works and how to use it to connect with others, build community, and make a difference. Through hands-on activities, discussions, collaboration, and real-world examples, you'll develop skills to communicate with confidence, listen thoughtfully, create compelling messages, and critically evaluate the messages you encounter every day. You'll also explore how artificial intelligence is changing communication and how to use these tools intentionally and responsibly.
Our goal is for you to become a more confident, creative, and thoughtful communicator. These skills will serve you in college, your relationships, your future career, and the communities you care about.

This is a two-week collaborative experience.
Participation. This is an in-person course that relies on your presence and active participation. Most days of class, I will collect evidence of students’ participation with in-class activities.
Extra Credit Worksheets. Optional weekly extra credit worksheets encourage students to connect course concepts to their personal experiences, opinions, and goals. To foster dialogue, learning, and relationships, the instructional staff will read and reply to your responses. I hope you read our comments.
