Section Description
The Catamount Singers is a small mixed chorus that sings repertory from throughout the history of choral music, typically unaccompanied works intended for smaller ensembles of a high skill level. We rehearse weekly and perform at least one full concert every term ... sometimes more.
Section Expectation
This is a performing ensemble. Our meetings are rehearsals in which everyone is expected to participate fully (unless they are sick). A significant amount of time is spent standing by those for whom standing is comfortable. And concerts call for specified concert dress. Some time should be spent outside rehearsal working on learning the music and words. There are typically no required materials, but singers should always bring a pencil to rehearsal. In addition to scheduled rehearsals, there are a number of extra meetings, including dress rehearsals and performances. Some travel to and from off-campus concert venues is often also necessary.
Evaluation
Grades are based attendance, engagement, and performance on a parts test.
