About PBIO 6800 A
An exploration of the merger of ecology and genomics to address the genetic basis of adaptive variation in natural populations. Emphasis on integrating quantitative approaches and hands-on analysis of large genomic and ecological data sets. Pre/Co-requisites: BCOR 2300, BCOR 2100, STAT 1410; basic knowledge of statistics, probability, genetics, and evolution required; familiarity with programming in R or bash is recommended. Section Description
This course will cover major research topics in ecological genomics and highlight case studies and applications of genomics to contemporary ecological and environmental problems. Class time is split between discussions of primary literature and hands-on coding, the application of the primary tools used to process, analyze, and visualize genomic data (Unix command line, R, R Markdown, github).
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on contributions to class paper discussions, class presentations, short homework assignments, lab notebooks, and analysis and presentation of group projects (final presentation and final paper).
