About CLAS 1520 A
The study of English vocabulary derived from Greek and Latin. Topics include analysis of word formation, historical and comparative linguistics, and international scientific terminology.

Section Description
We will focus our study on English vocabulary from two main sources: Latin origin and Greek origin. The first half will concentrate on Greek origins, and the second half will concentrate on Latin origins. In addition, class periods will cover a variety of related topics (examples include other contributing languages to English, the discovery of Proto-Indo-European, mondegreens and ghost words, etc.).
Evaluation
Students will be graded by attendance, exams, homework, and a paper.
