Section Description
The goal of this laboratory course is to provide you with the opportunity to practice and develop competency with common cellular and molecular biological tests and methods. The laboratory exercises incorporate broadly applicable techniques, which can be used to monitor and diagnose human health and disease. At the completion of this lab course students should be able to: 1. Perform broadly applicable cellular and molecular biology techniques. 2. Explain the principles and clinical purposes of all assays done in the laboratory and correlate the results with human health and disease. 3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate, analyze, and discuss experimental results
Section Expectation
Required materials: Students must complete lab safety requirements during the first week of lab. Students will also need to purchase a lab manual that includes all of the laboratory exercises to be completed this semester.
Evaluation
Grading: Your laboratory grade counts for 25% of your final course grade for BHSC 1340. Your lab grade will be derived from your efforts on the pre-lab quizzes, post-lab worksheets, your performance during the lab exercises and the final presentation. The proportion of the final grade of each component is indicated below: Category Percentage (%) Pre-Lab Quizzes 5 Post-Lab Worksheets 7.5 Lab Report 5 Group Presentation 7.5
