About FREN 2200 B
Continues building on skills from FREN 2100. Cultural context, grammar review, moving toward increased proficiency in listening comprehension, pronunciation, speaking, reading, and writing. More extensive and sophisticated readings and compositions than in FREN 2100. Students may take 1 French course numbered between 2200 and 2209 for credit. Cannot be taken for credit after FREN 3110. Prerequisite: FREN 2100 or equivalent.

Section Description
By the end of Intermediate French 2200, you will be able to: 1. Compose and revise written assignments in present and past time frames with learned material while expressing personal opinions. 2. Summarize and discuss texts using critical reflection and cultural references. 3. Demonstrate an ability to converse about social and cultural topics with ease and confidence in all major time frames. 4. Indicate a comprehension of French in personal and social contexts through verbal and written responses. 5. Recognize and discuss some of the major historical events and cultural aspects of the Francophone World. This syllabus is VERY IMPORTANT. It is a binding document between you and your language instructor and will work as a sort of contract. Hence, you must consult it very often.
Section Expectation
French 2200 is designed to integrate all of the knowledge attained in the previous levels with a particular emphasis on honing students' ability to interact with others in both written and spoken French through collaborative group activities. Many of the activities will help develop comprehension skills and a large active vocabulary necessary for advanced level courses. In addition to reviewing key grammar points, we will gain practice in developing reading comprehension strategies through study of short literary works and essays from Imaginez, as well as additional materials from other sources the professor may provide. Throughout the semester this course will focus on expanding awareness of Francophone cultures.
