This survey course explores the diversity of sexuality and intimate relationships across biological, psychological, and social domains and through cross-cultural, historical, and systemic frameworks. Students learn how sexuality and intimacy develop, are experienced, and expressed across the lifespan. Overarching topics examined in this course include sexual anatomy and physiology, sexual pleasure and communication, gender and sexual identity, contraception and abortion, sexual health and sexual dysfunction, kink and BDSM, sexual coercion and violence, and the commodification of sex. Students will have the opportunity to engage in readings, reflections, discussions, and activities to explore these concepts. Through various assignments, students will better understand their own relationships to pleasure, sexuality, and intimacy, as well as dive deeper into a topic of their choice.

This course combines lectures, discussions, and activities in class with weekly assignments and readings outside of class.

Grades are based on weekly attendance, journals, and quizzes, as well as larger assignments.
