Section Description
This introduction to art history includes the study of painting, sculpture, architecture and other media by surveying the Renaissance (the 14th century) through the Twentieth century using a global approach. This exploration of art and architecture in terms of history, social context, meaning and style will promote a general understanding of the development of art and style in different cultures and the effects of cultural exchange on the arts. Discussions of techniques, media, composition, and figure representation will provide an understanding of key concepts in the arts.
Section Expectation
Attendance is critical for your success in this course. Complete the required short readings and videos promptly, as well as the midterm, final exams, and short writing assignments. The lectures will be engaging and informative, providing essential insights for assignments, exams, and overall learning, making attendance crucial.
Evaluation
Attendance/participation (20%); midterm- and final exams (each 25 %); and short writing assignments (30 %)
