Section Description

Will you be working in the 21st century? If yes, technology commercialization will impact your work, it may even be your work. It is everywhere all around us. This class examines how the law impacts innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization. We will study the different types of intellectual property (trade secrets, patents, copyrights and trademarks) in detail. We will examine the laws that impact technology commercialization, including IP licensing, capital raising, company formation and governance. We will examine inventions and creativity from the not-too-distant past and from today and understand how intellectual property law evolved and accommodated these innovations. All the time we will apply what we learn to real world practice.
