Section Description
This course will use a combination of historical documents, court cases, documentaries, and academic research in the social sciences and humanities to explore how forms of inequality in educational policy have been challenged, sometimes repeatedly. We'll look at individual family members who have brought lawsuits and explore how educational inequalities have contributed to the growth of social movements and to a firmer understanding of the key role that education plays in a diverse democracy.
Section Expectation
This is a synchronous online class with the same expectations as any graduate seminar. Please be sure you've read the materials, raise questions about content, understanding, ideas, and more--really engage with one another's ideas and with the topics we're covering. All the readings will be on the course Brightspace site.
