Section Description
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America! It is a fun, fast paced, and social sport. This course will cover pickleball rules, terminology, court layout, equipment, strategy, technique, and game play. Students will learn and practice basic skills needed to play pickleball including strokes, serving, and volleying. While progressing through various skills, students will also take part in game play and drills. Course goals and objectives include… 1. Developing an understanding of the fundamental rules and regulations of pickleball. 2. Developing technical skills of pickleball including strokes, serve, return, paddle preparation and footwork. 3. Developing tactical skills including team positioning and offensive and defensive strategies.
Section Expectation
The main approach to learning in this class is by playing the game of pickleball! You will learn by experience and guidance from your instructor. Students will develop skills through a combination of drills, gameplay, coaching and occasional video analysis/observation of professional play.
Evaluation
Grades are based primarily on attendance and participation, but also include a pickleball knowledge and rules quiz, a base skills knowledge assessment and cumulative skills knowledge assessment.
