About MATH 3201 B

Differential equations, Laplace transforms, and systems of differential equations; brief introduction to Fourier series. Examples from engineering and physical sciences. Credit not granted for both MATH 3230 and MATH 3201. No credit for Mathematics majors. Prerequisite: MATH 2248. Co-requisites: Preferred: MATH 2522 or MATH 2544; or MATH 2500.

Notes

Prereqs enforced by the system: MATH 2248; Coreq: MATH 2522 or MATH 2544 or MATH 2500; Open to Degree and PACE students

Section Description

This is a three credit course in ordinary differential equations; aka ode's. We focus on first and second order ode's in this course from an applied viewpoint as we don't dive too deep into the theory. The first part of the course should have a familiar feel but topics later in the course; like Laplace Transforms will seem totally new to you. This course is needed for work in the physical sciences and engineering beyond the basic courses.

Section Expectation

You will be required to purchase a course account with Webassign as all graded work with be on Webassign through your laptop. There will be six tests, a final and homework after most classes. Class attendance is expected but not mandatory.

Evaluation

Your course grade will be a weighted average of your best five exams, (out of six), homework and the final exam.
