Section Description

Directed projects which explore the elements and principles of communication design. Design research, process, experimentation, and production in hand-based and computer-generated design application for multi-modal presentation. Design studio practices will be explored through lecture, analysis, discussion and research components. Focus is given to development of compositional sensitivity; applying the principles of design while employing major elements; image, typography, and color. This course serves and introduction to design theory and development of visual communication design content. Production of visual elements will explore various computer software for generation of photographic and illustrative images for multimodal representation.

Section Expectation

Mandatory attendance and participation in class production and critiques. Ability to work on project content outside of class. Ability to manage time to accomplish projects within a defined timeframe.

Evaluation

Completed exercises, projects, and participation in class discussions/project critiques.
