A holistic exploration of the health needs of women and persons assigned female at birth. Considers the stereotypical, theoretical, and clinical approaches to care for this population in westernized and global culture. Students will develop a heightened sense of awareness of these issues in society and media. Prerequisite: Minimum Sophomore standing.

Section Description
A holistic exploration of the health needs of women and people with female reproductive organs. Seminar format. This course will consider the stereotypical, theoretical, and clinical approaches of care of women in westernized and global culture. As a result of this course, students will develop a heightened sense of awareness of women’s health care issues in society and media. Course Objectives: 1. Articulate the influence of 20th century history on women's health. 2. Critically analyze current media representations of women's health. 3. Critique current literature relating to women's health issues. 4. Analyze political strategies and other forces that have influenced women in the health care system. 5. Analyze the structural barriers affecting women's access to health care, particularly women who are members of marginalized groups. Section expectations and evaluation methods for the course are subject to change at the discretion of the instructor prior to publishing of the course syllabus.
Section Expectation
Students will read or watch the videos for the week and write reflections on each reading or what they have watched. Students are expected to attend class and participate in class discussions. Each student will do a presentation for the class on their chosen related topic.
