About EDSP 6140 OL1

Curricular and assessment areas essential to literacy development for students with disabilities. Development, adaptation of curricula and assessment in elementary and secondary education for students with mild, moderate, and severe disabilities. Prerequisite: Special Education Graduate student or Instructor permission.

Section Description

In this course, students learn about implementing evidence-based practices to meet the literacy needs of individual students with learning difficulties. Course content includes instructional strategies and interventions to address students’ literacy development, characteristics of effective instruction, and methods of intensifying intervention. The topics, assignments, and activities pertain to educating students with disabilities in grades K-12.

Section Expectation

This is an online course. We will meet on Teams most weeks, with a few weeks dedicated to asynchronous learning.

Evaluation

Students will complete several projects in this course, many of which should be implemented in the classroom in which they work when possible.
