Section Description
The ASL Level 1 course introduces beginners to American Sign Language and Deaf culture. Through engaging online activities, students will learn vocabulary, basic grammar, and signing productions.
Section Expectation
Students are expected to engage actively in all asynchronous activities, including video lectures, and complete weekly assignments, such as video practice and worksheets, by their due dates. Regularly practicing signing is encouraged to reinforce skills. Participating in discussions about Deaf culture will enhance the overall experience.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on a variety of weighted categories, which include worksheets, video assignments, lab activities, unit tests, and cultural discussions. Each category will be assessed using specific rubrics that outline expectations for performance, ensuring transparent and consistent grading throughout the course.
