The University of Vermont is excited to announce that Bettyjo Bouchey, Ed.D. has been appointed as Chief Officer for the Professional and Continuing Education department (PACE). Bouchey brings nearly two decades of higher education experience to the state’s flagship land-grant university and its innovative PACE division, which has served students from Vermont and well beyond providing a mix of credit and non-credit professional development.

Bouchey joins a division at the University of Vermont that has long prided itself on meeting the needs of the evolving local, national, and international workforce with a rich and diverse array of credit and non-credit offerings. In the past few years, PACE has further developed several new and innovative programs that provide learning opportunities across key fields. Offerings in healthcare, wellness, digital marketing, leadership, project management, and a variety of other fields provide a wide range of choices for students at all stages of their educational journey.

Dr. Bouchey was just named a faculty member for the Online Learning Consortium‘s 2024 Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning and a Director At-Large to the 2024 – 2026 UPCEA Board of Directors. Prior to joining UVM, Dr. Bouchey served as Associate Professor and Vice Provost of Digital Strategy and Operations at National Louis University. In this role, she oversaw quality standards and service for online programming, alternative graduation pathways, learning experience design, and academic innovation. Dr. Bouchey holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University at Albany, an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Doctorate in Education from Northeastern University. Her research interests include organizational structures of online units in higher education institutions and impactful pedagogical practices in online teaching, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
