Rick Clare PMP®, CBAP®, CSM, MSPM is Partner, Director of Solution Services, Business Analysis Practice Director and Senior Instructor for PMCentersUSA

Rick joined the organization in the fall of 2000, as a Technical Consultant leveraging his business systems and Oracle development experience and progressed through various roles of increasing responsibility through the years.  In his position as BA Practice Director, Rick is responsible for maintaining the company’s business analysis courseware and developing customized training material for private clients. In his role as Director of Solution Services, Rick serves as a Project Management and Business Analysis Subject Matter Expert, working closely with our many clients on a wide range of enterprise training programs and consulting engagements. He assists clients on key projects of varying size and scope and leverages his expertise in the field of project management and business analysis to deliver the organization’s specialty solution engagements.

Rick started working in Information Technology while he was in the Canadian Army in 1988 and continued for over 20 years in a span of industries including; Hospital Administration, Healthcare Insurance, Retail, Banking and Financial Services.  Rick’s early career experience was as a senior Oracle database developer, performing analysis, design, development, and documentation on numerous database systems, using Oracle and its complete set of development tools. He has worked on projects that involve all aspects of the application development task, including strategy, analysis, design, build, implementation and production, as a business analyst and project manager.

With over 25 years of experience in the field, Rick has an impressive background in the development and delivery of professional training programs. His background includes work as a course developer, a technical school administrator, and a lead Oracle instructor for an intensive 32-week Oracle career course for EIS in Canada from 1992-2000. In his current capacity with PMCentersUSA, Rick develops Project Management, Agile, Scrum, and Business Analysis courses to supplement our existing course library and to meet our client needs for courseware customizations. Rick was instrumental in the customization and delivery of a Business Analysis training program for a large federal government client and has taught for many enterprise organizations throughout the US, as well as for the Katz Graduate School of Business, Center for Executive Training, at the University of Pittsburgh through our joint open enrollment programs.

He also oversees the PMCentersUSA instructor team, as well as courseware updates, and training delivery scheduling and rollout. Rick Clare works closely with the Senior Leadership Team of PMCentersUSA, including Joe Lukas, Vice President and Mark Balish, President to ensure all client needs are met and our performance and quality levels are consistently high. As evidence of this, in December 2019, CIOReview Magazine named PMCentersUSA among the “Top 10 Most Promising Project Management Consulting/Services Companies in 2019.” In addition to his responsibilities to PMCentersUSA, Rick also serves as an adjunct faculty member of Northeastern University where he delivers an IT Project Management course online for undergraduate students.

Because of his engaging presentation style and breadth of knowledge, Rick is routinely invited to speak for companies, professional organizations, PMI and IIBA Chapters, and numerous conferences, including the Building Business Capabilities Conference, the Project Management/Business Analysis World conference, and the PMI® Global Congress. He has worked extensively with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®), and served as Vice President of Chapters at the international level for two years – the senior volunteer position.  Rick led the IIBA’s Chapter Development Committee and orchestrated work, contributed to, and served as editor of the IIBA’s Managing Business Analysts, a book consisting of the views from experts in the BA field on how to manage BAs.  For his efforts with the organization, Rick was awarded IIBA’s highest honor for volunteer work during the Building Business Capability conference in 2011.

Rick Clare is a PMI® certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®, one of the first Certified Business Analysis Professionals (CBAP)® in the world, a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM), and an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP). Rick earned his Master’s degree in Project Management (MSPM) from Northeastern University and is a graduate of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is a permanent US resident and lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with his wife and daughter.

Joseph Lukas, PMP, PE, CCP, CSM

Joe Lukas is the Project Management Practice Director for ConsultUSA and serves as Vice-President of PMCentersUSA. He has more than 30 years of experience in project management – encompassing project portfolio management and international project management. His projects have spanned numerous industries including manufacturing, product development, information technology and construction/engineering.  Among his varied strengths, Joe has demonstrated expertise in scheduling, earned value analysis and risk management. He has published over 30 articles on various project management topics and is regularly invited to be guest speaker for companies and organizations seeking to improve performance in project management.

Joe is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® and has been a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI)® since 1985. While living in Rochester, NY, Joe was very active with the PMI Chapter, serving in various positions including two terms as Chapter President.  His efforts in growing the Rochester Chapter were recognized in 2001 when Joe was honored with an award for his outstanding contributions to the Chapter. Early in his career, Joe received his Professional Engineer license following his graduation from Syracuse University where he earned B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. He earned his Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) credential in 2013.

Joe become a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) for the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) and was honored to be named the recipient of the 2017 AACE Technical Excellence Award, bestowed in recognition of his outstanding technical contributions made in the project and cost management community. Joe’s previous AACE honors include being chosen by the attendees of the 6th World Congress on Cost Engineering, Project Management, and Quality Surveying at the 52nd AACE international meeting to receive the Jan Korevaar Outstanding Paper Award. The award is presented at each World Congress to the author of the paper which receives the highest attendee evaluations of all papers presented at the Congress. Joe’s paper on “Earned Value Analysis – Why it Doesn’t Work” covered the common errors encountered in implementing earned value on projects and recommended corrective actions.

Joe leads the experienced and skilled 35+ member consultant and instructor team for PMCentersUSA & ConsultUSA.  He provides and oversees PM Mentoring, Executive Coaching, and the Project Management Practice area of ConsultUSA, the exclusive solutions and staffing partner for PMCentersUSA. In addition, Joe develops customized, private training programs for organizations nationwide and assists clients in the development of PMOs and Centers of Excellence in the areas of Business Analysis and Project Management.  Because of the organization’s work with its clients, CIOReview Magazine named PMCentersUSA among the “Top 10 Most Promising Project Management Consulting/Services Companies in 2019.”

Joseph Nuzzo, PMP, PgMP, PMI-SP, SA, is an instructor for PMCentersUSA with  24 years of experience delivering software and IT solutions in the healthcare industry leveraging his leadership, project, and program management, and agile skillset. Since December 2012, Joe has served as the Director of IT Program Management at Aetna Healthcare, Inc. (formerly Coventry Health Care) where he maintains accountability for the delivery of programs and projects supporting the organization’s Medicare business and its Project Management Office. His team consists of more than a dozen project managers and business analysts responsible for all aspects of project delivery, including schedule, budget, risk, and stakeholder management.

Prior to his work at Aetna/Coventry, Joe worked in roles of increasing responsibility at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Pittsburgh, PA, within Healthcare Management Services, Healthcare Informatics, and Enterprise Informatics departments over a period of 11 years beginning in January 2000. During his tenure, Joe held accountability for all aspects of the analytical/decision support function that served to reinforce Highmark’s clinically-oriented medical management efforts. He was promoted to a Project Manager III position in 2005 and he was responsible for the development and adherence of project management life cycle processes and standards throughout the division, applying his knowledge and in-depth experience with the company’s three life cycle standards including its agile process called HighRUP. In this capacity, Joe coordinated multiple project resources ensuring program management best practices were utilized to deliver the best outcomes in scope, time and budget adherence, and alignment with strategic directions.

In addition to his work experience, Joe Nuzzo has more than 16 years of experience as an instructor teaching undergraduate, graduate, and professional development courses in project/program management for several colleges and universities, including Penn State University, DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management, and Community College of Allegheny County. For more than eight years, Joe has prepared professionals to sit for the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification exam.

Joe Nuzzo holds several PMI® certifications, including PMP®, Program Management Professional (PgMP)®, Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP)® and Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®. He also holds the SAFe® Agilist (SA), SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), and SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC) certifications from Scaled Agile, Inc. In addition to his certifications, Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and is nearing completion of the requirements for his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Nova Southeastern University. His doctoral dissertation centers on utilization of brain-based leadership techniques to improve project stakeholder satisfaction on large, complex projects and programs.
